What Telemedicine Can’t Treat: Knowing When You Need an In-Person Visit
Telemedicine handles more than people expect — but knowing its limits is just as important as knowing what it’s good for.
Anything Requiring a Physical Exam
Concerns that need hands-on evaluation — listening to your lungs, checking a joint, examining a wound — call for an in-person visit rather than a video screen.
New or Severe Symptoms
Sudden, severe, or unfamiliar symptoms are safer evaluated in person, where a fuller exam and, if needed, testing can happen right away.
Certain Diagnostic Tests
Bloodwork, imaging, and other tests that require equipment simply aren’t possible over video — telemedicine can point you toward them, but not perform them.
When in Doubt, Ask
If you’re not sure which type of visit fits your situation, our team can help you decide before you book — better to check than to guess.
